Taking A Feral Cat In House.
When visiting my mother in her apartment I noticed a cat was living in the underground garage of the building.
Asking around, it turned out that this cat must have been living there for at least a year. Surviving on food left behind from a compassionate neighbor and somehow didn’t dare to go out (not surprising, since the garage looks out on one of the busiest streets in Ghent).
Catching such a feral and shy cat was less than trivial and a special cage with some food inside was set up. On Wednesday, February 27th I got a phone call that the cat was trapped and that if I could come over. So we speedily drove over and brought her/him into the house. As expected, the cat ran away finding some place to hide in the house. From then on, I had to remember to be sure to keep all doors closed to avoid any escape attempts. I could take a picture late in the evening when she/he started exploring the new surroundings.
